Sharp Completes 16.5 MW Solar Farm In Mongolia

Sharp Energy Solutions Corporation (SESJ) has completed a solar power plant with a direct current (DC) capacity of 16.5 MW in Mongolia.

The subsidiary of Japan’s Sharp Corp (TYO:6753) partnered with Shigemitsu Shoji Co Ltd, a Japanese trading firm that also has a solar generation business, and Mongolian solar developer and operator Solar Tech LLC to build the project, which is located in Zamyn Uud in the southeastern Mongolian province of Dornogovi.

The solar farm is expected to produce 31,162 MWh of power per year, avoiding 24,836 tonnes carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, Sharp said in a statement today.

Sharp, together with partners, completed Mongolia’s first large-scale solar power project, with a capacity of 10 MW DC, at the end of 2016.
