The roadmap for energy was set out with the International Renewable Energy Agency for the 2022 Winter Games, which will take place in the partnership of Beijing and Zhangjiakou cities. Under the agreement, Zhangjiakou city will obtain 50 percent of its energy from renewable energy by the year 2020.
In recent years, China has made steady progress with its determination and achievements in the field of renewable energy. With its clean energy priority and technological innovations, the country emerged as the key actor of energy transformation.
In the 2008 Summer Games which was held in China, the air quality was below the levels considered healthy by the World Health Organization and created concerns both in country and the world. For the 2022 Winter Games, under the agreement signed with the International Renewable Energy Agency and the “low carbon” call, the Chinese solar incorporation increased 10 times over in the last four years. The country plans to invest at least 350 billion dollar in renewable energy sources within the next two years.
As well as low carbon footprint, the 2022 Winter Games, which will take place in the country, aims to raise awareness of the clean energy movement, with its renewable energy profile.
