Juwi Adding 82 MWp of Colorado Solar For Duke Energy

Juwi Inc, part of German renewable project developer Juwi AG, on Thursday said it will put on stream an 82-MWp solar park in Colorado for Duke Energy Renewables at the end of 2019.

The unit of US utility Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) purchased the development assets related to the Palmer solar project from Juwi less than a month ago. Juwi is currently building the photovoltaic (PV) plant near Colorado Springs, in El Paso County, under its role as engineering, construction and procurement (EPC) contractor.

To be powered by over 200,000 solar panels, the Palmer complex will generate enough electricity for more than 19,000 households per year, once completed. Its output will be sold to Colorado Springs Utilities under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

Juwi is the developer of the Palmer project and will oversee the plant’s technical management following commissioning.
